Winning a lottery is a dream come true, isn’t it?
However, it sure isn’t easy considering the odds of winning Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292 million. Yes, you read it right: 1 in 292 million.
For Mega Millions, the chances are even bleaker: 1 in 302.6 million.
But, where’s the fun if you don’t dream.
Well, dreaming is one thing and mistaking your jackpot numbers for a previously announced lottery is another. Just imagine that you think your life has changed at a dinner table, listening to the winning combination of numbers. You consider yourself a millionaire, quit your job, call your family and friends, plan a ludicrous vacation in Hawaii or wherever on Earth you want. And suddenly, you realize that the numbers are from a previous draw. How would you cope with so many dreams being broken in a single moment?
The same happened with a staff member at an Italian restaurant in Englewood Cliffs, N.J., who loudly read out the numbers for the $900 million jackpot as he repeated the numbers announced on the TV – 2, 11, 47, 62, 63, 17 – only to realize later that the announcement was for an earlier draw. Ecstasy followed by despair, and then a laughter that echoed in the grand dining hall.
So, when are you trying your luck? Jackpots run crazy again…
